About

We are a rural Federation with a very diverse landscape, flat south of Lincoln to the rolling Wolds that lead you through marshes down to the sea

Lincoln is our city with its cathedral and castle. It is steeped in history but is also a modern thriving city with good shopping and plenty of culture. The Magna Carta is housed here and celebrated its 800th Anniversary in the year the WI Organisation celebrated its 100th year.

We have many market and seaside towns as well as beautiful villages, especially in the Wolds, for you to come and enjoy.

Our Federation has 61 WIs scattered throughout these towns and villages and should you be visiting the county please feel free to pop into any of them where you will be sure of a warm welcome. As well as individual WI meetings, the Federation plans activities throughout the year for all members.

We are a very busy Federation with lots going on at local and county level, so find out how you can become involved.

The affairs of LNFWI are run by the Board of Trustees, led by the Federation Chairman, who are elected by the members tri-annually.

In addition to our Board of Trustees we also have 1 sub-committee, and a Members Advisory Committee. All of the members of our committees are volunteers and each committee holds various events and activities throughout the year.

EAT

The Events and Activities Team is responsible for the promotion of Leisure, Arts and Crafts activities among WI members as well as education, science, social issues, health, transport, consumer affairs and all aspects of Government at International, National and local level. The members are responsible for organising courses, workshops, festivals, competitions, exhibitions and demonstrations to encourage interest in these areas among WI members.

Members Advisory Committee: (MAC)

The Members Advisory Committee is made up of WI Advisers. The WI Advisers are appointed and trained by NFWI in all matters regarding the Constitution, finance and the running of a WI. A WI adviser is there to give help and advice to WIs and arrange training programmes in all WI procedures. It is their responsibility to open and suspend WIs, indeed no WI may be formed or suspended without an Adviser being present. Dianne Tuckett is the current chairman of MAC.

Group Convenors

The Group Convenor, who acts as Group Organiser, is nominated and elected by the WIs in that Group and her term of office is for two years. Other Group Activities organized during the year can include outings, exhibitions, social activities.  They are arranged by the Group Convenor in consultation with the WIs and help strengthen the friendly links between neighbouring WIs.

Visitors may be invited to Group Meetings at the discretion of the Group Convenor and her Committee, providing the members of the WIs within that Group have first option on all tickets.

WI Advisers are also available to attend group meetings and offer any advice and support. Please contact WI House if you would like to book a visit from an Adviser.
